For Immediate Release, May 22, 2009
Osceola County REC Executive Board Unanimously Passes Resolution Supporting Fair and Open Primary Elections in Florida
The Osceola County Republican Executive Committee Executive Board has unanimously passed a resolution supporting fair and open primaries in Florida. We stand adamantly opposed to the fact that Republican Party of Florida leaders, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and the Republican National Committee are openly and actively endorsing and/or orchestrating the endorsement of one candidate over another without following Rule 8 set forth in the Republican Party of Florida Rules and Procedures.
We are also opposed to efforts that would invoke RNC Rule 11 in an effort to further that endorsement. This resolution is not about supporting any one candidate over another. It is about the fundamental principle of following the Constitution of the Republican Party of Florida and the Party’s Rules and Procedures.
As your executive board we believe in the primary process and that grassroots Republicans should pick the candidate of their choice, become engaged, and work to get that candidate elected in the primary election. We believe the healthy debate of issues and candidate vision is a fundamental right of the Florida electorate and ultimately serves to unify and strengthen our Republican Party. The Osceola County Republican Executive Committee adamantly supports fair and open primaries in the state of Florida.
######
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING FAIR AND OPEN PRIMARY ELECTIONS IN
THE STATE OF FLORIDA
WHEREAS there are open
seats for the US Senate, Governor, and Cabinet for which duly qualified Florida
Republican electors will vote in the 2010 primary elections;
WHEREAS the members of
the Osceola County Republican Executive Committee believe it is improper to
make or orchestrate endorsements by the state and/or national Republican Party,
Republican Party leaders, committees or affiliated groups prior to the
completion of the primary election;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT
RESOLVED, the Osceola
County Republican
Executive Committee:
1)
Supports fair and open primary elections in Florida and is opposed to the
actions of members of State and/or National Republican Party Leadership who
have endorsed and/or orchestrated the endorsement of specific candidates for
statewide elected office prior to the Republican Party primary election of 2010
to determine the Republican nominees for said seats;
2)
Respectfully request that the members of State and/or National Republican Party
leadership, who have endorsed and/or orchestrated the endorsement of any
specific candidate for any statewide elected office, to immediately retract
said endorsement and/or cease orchestrating said endorsement until such time as
the Republican Party primary election to select the Republican nominee has been
completed;
3)
Cautions the state and national party leadership to reserve the use of Rule 11
or other premature exclusive endorsement mechanisms to those situations in
which a duly elected Republican incumbent has primary opposition from a
candidate with minimal foundation, principles, and/or credentials. The
open vacancy for US Senate does not meet the criteria or the intent of the
endorsement rules;
4)
Hereby offers to host any public debate in an open forum to allow the statewide
candidates to offer their visions for Florida
and debate their viewpoints on Republican leadership for America.
Be it resolved that the Osceola County Republican Executive Committee Executive Board unanimously adopted this resolution this 17th day of May, 2009 in support of fair and open primary election for statewide offices in the State of Florida.

Mark Cross---State Committeeman

Campaign for Liberty (C4L) Seattle Recap and Announcement of Next Conference Location
May 28, 2009
Dear Friend of Liberty,
On Memorial Day Weekend, Campaign for Liberty held its Second Regional Conference in Seattle, Washington, and I am pleased to report that the event was a tremendous success!
On Friday night, over 700 gathered for our open to the public “Freedom Celebration,” which was emceed by C4L Editor-in-Chief Anthony Gregory and headlined by Dr. Paul and Tom Woods. And over 200 participated in our Saturday political activism training!
Click here to see video of Friday night's Celebration.
In a recent Member Blog Spotlight on CampaignforLiberty.com, Michael Foley described his five personal Conference highlights. Read his thoughts on Ron Paul's legacy (as discussed during Saturday's training), learning about history from a freedom perspective, and networking with other liberty-minded individuals here.

Thank you to all of the staff members and volunteers who worked so hard to make the weekend such a success. I would like to especially thank Deb Hopper, Deb Wells, and C4L Washington State Coordinator Katja Delavar for all of the time and effort they spent to ensure a tremendous Conference.

I am also excited to announce that our next Regional Conference will be held in conjunction with FreedomFest on July 10-12 at Bally's in Las Vegas. Held annually in Las Vegas, FreedomFest's organizers describe it as “an annual festival where 'free minds meet' to celebrate 'great books, great ideas, and great thinkers' in an open-minded society.”
For more information on FreedomFest, click here. Further details about our Las Vegas Regional Conference will be released soon on CampaignforLiberty.com
Campaign for Liberty's Regional Conferences equip you with the tools you need to make a lasting impact on a nation in desperate need of genuine leadership. Thanks again to all those who joined us in Seattle, and I look forward to another tremendous time of education, training, and networking in Las Vegas on July 10-12!

News Blast - Employer's gold, silver payroll standard may bring life imprisonment?
LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
Las Vegas Review-Journal file photo
A self-made entrepreneur, Kahre, 48, paid his workers in gold and silver coin, and said they could go by the coins' face value -- rather than the much higher market value of their precious metal content -- for federal tax purposes. He did not withhold taxes from their wages, and he provided the same payroll system to 35 outside clients, which were other local businesses.
