Matthew Falconer for Orange County Mayor: Mildred Fernandez and the "Pay per View" Scandal
The news that Mayoral Candidate Mildred Fernandez was arrested
on bribery charges included an allegation of Fernandez "forcing
(an applicant) to donate to her campaign before she agreed to meet with
him." Mildred is innocent until proven guilty, but this event brings
into focus what I have said all along; our political system has
been corrupted by special interests.
There is a reason why all of my opponents voted for all of the major spending projects totaling $3 billion. They vote special interests your money and receive support in return. The culture of corruption is not limited to the Expressway Authority, it is our entire political system as I stated in the interview below;
Aside from campaign contributions special interests reward friendly
politicians with jobs. Teresa Jacobs is on her third job since
leaving the commission in 2008, all of them related to her
government service.
While I was protesting massive tax increases and wasteful
government spending
my opponent Ms. Jacobs was employed at a university in "government studies." She left there to work for the Florida Department of Transportation where she lobbied for the approval of commuter and high speed rail. After leaving FDOT she went to work for an engineer who does work with the FDOT to "gain approval of their projects." It should concern voters Ms. Jacobs approved projects desired by FDOT, took a job with FDOT, and then took a job with a vendor of FDOT (see interview below).
