Sun Rail Will Cost Lives Too

Not only will Sun Rail raise taxes on every homeowner and small business at the worst possible time and force cuts in public safety and education, it will cost lives. The Department of Transportation has decided to pay for cost overruns (which often run 50-100% of estimates) by delaying road projects in Orange County. Delaying roadway safety improvements will cost lives.

The residents in East Orange County will struggle with traffic on State Road 50 for years while their tax dollars go to a system they will never use. Dangerous roads in Orange County will remain so while tax dollars get diverted to Sun Rail. Below is a poll taken by the Orlando Sentinel on taxpayers opinion about their tax dollars going from road improvements to Sun Rail.
  

 

Since all of my opponents voted for and support Sun Rail the only way to reverse this policy mistake is to elect Matthew Falconer for Orange County Mayor on August 24th. I pledge to put education, public safety, and your children's safety over a rail project that only benefits special interests.
