Bill of Rights Day (Dec. 15) celebrations across the country!

Bill of Rights Defense Committee

Dear Juan,

This Thursday, December 15, is Bill of Rights Day. Each year on this date, we mark the anniversary of the ratification of the first ten amendments to the Constitution.

But this year, there’s even more reason to celebrate Bill of Rights Day: our government is trying harder than ever to take away our rights.

Earlier this month, the Senate passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which would authorize the government to imprison anyone—even US citizens—in military detention indefinitely and without trial.

Because this bill creates the most oppressive national security power we’ve ever seen—far worse than the PATRIOT Act—people across the country are organizing events and protests against the NDAA to be held tomorrow and Thursday.

Find an event near you by visiting our map of events across the country. You’ll also find a listing of all the events we know of so far at the end of this email.
